Giving Thanks to Your Employees
Thanksgiving is a time to reflect, acknowledge and appreciate the people in your life. As the year comes to a close, it’s a good time to give thanks to those who produce results and contribute to the success of your company.
It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle during the holidays, so how do you keep your employees engaged throughout the season? Look at these four ways to give thanks to your most valuable assets, your employees.
Send Thank-You Notes
A note recognizing employees’ hard work goes a long way, especially when it’s handwritten. We all like to know that our efforts are recognized and appreciated. If there is not enough time to hand-write personalized cards to every employee, an e-card is an easy way to express your thanks. American Greeting has a ton of free e-cards to choose from.
Have a Holiday Potluck
Potlucks are a great way to kick off the holiday season. Provide the main dishes and have the rest of the office bring the sides. Sharing a meal together allows people to bond and relax in a casual setting and it provides an excellent opportunity for you to say a few words of thanks to the team and let them know you appreciate them. You can go around the room and have everyone say one thing they are thankful for.
Handout Vouchers for an Extra Paid Day Off
Giving employees an extra paid day off can ease additional holiday stress your employees might be feeling. Everyone could use some extra time for some holiday shopping, you can ease their worries by providing them with some personal time off. Extra boss points if the voucher never expires!
Send them Home Early
If it is feasible, a surprise half day does wonders for team morale. Allowing people to get a head start on the weekend or a few hours of unexpected free time shows you recognize and appreciate their hard work and that you understand there is more to life than just work.
Though the holidays seem to fly by, make it a point to take a moment and show gratitude to the people who affect your company’s success – your employees. You will be glad you did!
